Baldur's Gate does not build itself. In Dungeons & Dragons: Builders of Baldur's Gate, each player heads a powerful family with one aim: turn the greatest city of the Forgotten Realms into a fortune and a name nobody can ignore.
You place businesses across the nine districts, link them into a network, and mark every building with your influence cubes. You also court the three powers that run the city: the Council of Four, the Flaming Fist and the Thieves' Guild. Keeps, gates and watchtowers are miniatures with slots for your cubes, so the city rises off the board in three dimensions.
Then the monsters arrive. Mobs hit the outer walls and the harbour, and rival families have to ally, briefly, to hold the line. Each of them still looks for a way to profit from the crisis.
